Photo Update: 4 August 2014

Updates for the 2nd last week of summer break:

On Monday I brought my kitty out for a walk :3

We were rejoicing because it was a PH, the food trail started early at FEP!

Shopping for supplies for one of our upcoming projects!

Prawn mee

Wanton Mee & Stingray!

And then a mudpie for dessert before heading home (:

We ate so much in the afternoon that I couldn't eat dinner. Only started feeling insanely hungry around 9pm so my dad whipped up this awesome meal for me :D

Special breakfast at work on Tuesday prepared by the directors for a farewell.

Japanese steamboat with the boy & friends after work!

Many many many plates of meat.

We were so stuffed...

I think my favourite apart from the cheese tofu was the softserve icecream, yum yum yum.

Lunch time with the berriegirl on Wednesday.

Dead tired and preparing for tuition session after work.

Came home to another papi-prepared dinner, it doesn't look like much but.. I love this brand of instant noodles, so this made me very very happy.

Thursday! More optimistic because the end of the week was approaching.

I understand that 80% of my photographs are of food.

Yes, I know.

It was the berriegirl's last day of work!

Dinner venue for the night with my boy.

Friday friday fridayyyyy.

The canteen food consisted of laksa and other dishes but I can't take laksa soup so I had it.. dry with corn and salad shizzle, bahahah.

Dinner time with my bestfr after not seeing her for over 7 months! <3

We went shopping and had loads of fun laughing and walking and walking and walking for over 2 hours.

Bugis has pretty awesome crepes, I'd go back for them.

I love Saturday brunches.

Beach time with the boy!

This amused me immensely.

Beach times! I suddenly realise that I forgot to upload the pictures from my holiday at Nice! Terrible terrible terrible because that was actually my favourite, I'll remember to upload them soon.

The boy brought loads of drinks and we had some fun mixing them up :3

I ordinarily hate sand and sun, but this was a pretty nice day. Lazed around the entire afternoon! It was real sandy but that was the only down side I guess.

Dinner that I prepared at home before coming

Hung out till the sun went down, perfect day <3

Sunday is mass day.

Had lunch with the boys before heading home to collapse. Busy week with minimal points of interest; I'll try to be more interesting, hahaha.

Everything else can wait.

The laundry can wait. So can the dishes.
Our emails and mobile phones too.
We could sit out naked by the window
if we dared, or we could catch the news.
I could watch you struggle not to doze
off during the sports announcements.
There will be plenty of time for sleep.

The Bait

So I was just plodding along doing my thing in the office and I suddenly thought of this prose poem that I read last year for my poetry workshop. The first lines goes "This is not an elegy..". Now, I've never lost anyone to death before, not someone who was close to me anyway, so I can't quite say that I understand such a loss right now. But I think this excerpt from The Bait cuts pretty close to what loss is like, I cried both the first and second time I read it:

But why am I telling you this? Because I want you to love me? To pity me? To understand I've suffered and that excuses my deficiencies? To see how loss is loss and no elegy no quiet talk late at night among loved ones who suddenly feel the inadequacy of their love and the expression of that love can take it away? Or give it back? Perhaps even loss is lost? My brother is gone and the world, you, me, are no better for it. There was no goodness in his death. And there is none in this poem, eleven years later and still confused. An attempt, one might say, to come to terms with his death as if there was somewhere to come to, as if there were terms. But there is nowhere to come to; there are no terms. Just this spewing of words, this gesture neither therapy nor catharsis nor hopelessness no consolation. Not elegy but a small crumb. An offering.
