Naked Museum

So early last month, I participated in a Facebook comment competition and won myself and Sam a trip to visit the newly renovated National Gallery - before the art installations fill it up. I was so excited because I love clean white spaces, glass, woodwork etc. It was a pretty magnificent tour (:

Marble pillars and woodwork all round.

Hi birdie

Couldn't step into these rooms but I'm so in love with woodwork ahhhhh.

One of my favourites: Library.

Last stop: Old prison cell!

Boy was dying for a beer and got an especially huge one, I was starving so I had some pizza hehe.

Met some qts for dinner at some cool burger place to try their salted egg burger.

Don't go far off

Don't go far off, not even for a day, because --
because -- I don't know how to say it:
a day is long and I will be waiting for you,
as in an empty station when the trains are parked off somewhere else,
asleep.

Don't leave me, even for an hour, because
then the little drops of anguish will all run together,
the smoke that roams looking for a home
will drift into me, choking my lost heart.

Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach;
may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.
Don't leave me for a second, my dearest,

because in that moment you'll have gone so far
I'll wader mazily over all the earth, asking,
Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?

since feeling

since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world

my blood approves,
and kisses are a better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
-- the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says

we are for each other: then
laugh,leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph

And death i think is no parenthesis

Kitty Weekend

These are photographs from the last weekend we spent with Tim's kittens before they went to their new homes. They've grown into such playful adorable little things, I miss them already!

We had a rough morning but were excited to go see them kitties!

Scary eyes.

Fragile

I've been a little busy the past couple of weeks just working and tutoring in between catching up with friends and spending quality time with Sam. His new job has been pretty time consuming, he works long hours and always takes home work over the weekends as well - so time with him is all the more precious now.

I've also been boarding a puppy, Kino, at my place for the past couple of days. She belongs to Kanika's best friend, Kathy, who's away on holiday. It's been absolutely wonderful having a puppy around the house though of course it comes with a lot of hard work because she's barely 4 months old and still requires a lot of caring. To make things slightly trickier, I've been feeling under the weather since the night that she came over - definitely not great. There were moments where I felt so sick and languid and unhappy, but looking at the adorable frolicking puppy who loves cuddles... That's just a beautiful beautiful thing and it does wonders to one's mood.

Lately, I've been witness to a number of fallouts and breakups and it really breaks my heart. I've come to be reminded just how fragile we all can be, and how all relationships, romantic or otherwise, have to be worked on everyday. And even so, sometimes they just aren't meant to be. Nothing comes easy and I've been so blessed to have grown up the way I have, being surrounded by people who truly care and love me - despite occasional misguided ways of doing things.

Today I'm so grateful for my family, my friends, my boyfriend; for having been brought up in Singapore with access to a top notch education, for being able to share my knowledge with the younger generation, for being able to live without fear of prejudice, for being able to be safe on the streets of my country - and for all the thousand and one little blessings that I miss every single day.

I hope I always remember how blessed I am and what a miracle my life is everyday.
