22nd - 23rd June 2019: Weekend Trip in Muar

Oops leftover pic from the night before.

Hence began our long trip into Muar, this is a zoomed in picture of all the cars waiting to enter the Malaysian checkpoint.

Took us quite a while to get in but it was mostly an okay journey!

Lots of puppers on our first stop!

Got them some tuna and they were actually really picky lolol, I guess they are well fed.

Next stop was an otah making factory. The aunties who were on the trip with us were real excited haha.

Time to make!

Actually didn't feel the cleanest cos there were loads of flies around, but I guess the BBQ would've killed the germs (right????).

Kinda exhausted from our long ride into Malaysia but still having a good time :3

Random bridge idk lol.

Dinner was some basic seafood, tasted okay. I'm not a huge fan of chinese food anyway.

Went to a bakery after dinner to buy breakfast for the next day.

We may have gotten a little bit too excited.

Checked into our container hotel which was actually not too bad, the toilet wasn't great though ahaha.

Our bakery loot hehe. Just wish I could heat up the almond croissant!

Woke up bright and early in the morning to go for our hike! This is what the container hotel looks from the outside haha.

We were ready!

But the hike was cancelled due to a super heavy rain. We were secretly glad and went back to sleep hahahahaha.

So it turned out that all we really did in Muar was... to eat.

Just. So. Much. Food.

All food and no exercise hehe.

Pleased Alex with his loot.

Last stop was durian, which I don't really eat so I mostly watched.

So... the rest actually had stomachaches after this and I was fine hahahaha...

Someone was very very very pleased to see us home after being away for the weekend!

When Great Trees Fall

"When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.

When great trees fall
in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.

When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
unsaid,
promised walks
never taken.

Great souls die and
our reality, bound to
them, takes leave of us.
Our souls,
dependent upon their
nurture,
now shrink, wizened.
Our minds, formed
and informed by their
radiance,
fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance
of dark, cold
caves.

And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.”
