Lover, n.

"Oh, how I hated this word. So pretentious, like it was always being translated from the French. The tint and taint of illicit, illegitimate affections. Dictionary meaning: 'a person having a love affair.' Impermanent. Unfamiliar. Inextricably linked to sex.

I have never wanted a lover. In order to have a lover, I must go back to the root of the word. For I have never wanted a lover, but I have always wanted love, and to be loved.

There is no word for the recipient of the love. There is only a word for the giver. There is the assumption that lovers come in pairs.

When I say, 'Be my lover', I don't mean, 'Lets have an affair',  I don't mean, 'Sleep with me.' I don't mean 'Be my secret.'

I want us to go back to that root.

I want you to be the one who loves me.

I want to be the one who loves you."

Mum's Birthday Celebration

Photographs from the time we took mum out for a birthday treat, we went shopping (or she did lol) and had lunch at the Marmalade Pantry!

Whipped up a quick brunch for myself after my morning lesson because my mum wanted to have an early start to shopping :P

Met up with Lili and family, us girls had a good time catching up while our mothers shopped their bank accounts dry.

Trying on some hats, hahahahaha.

She eventually bought that bunny beanie for me in case I need it when/if I go overseas for my Masters :')

Grannypie was there too!

Complete :3

Tried this mink on as a joke but ended up liking it a fair bit, couldn't afford it though.

Lili's turn to go dress shopping and I just stood around being annoying, hahaha.

Birthday lunch treat for mamipie!

The food was pretty good but nothing to rave about in my opinion, really pricey too.

Later in the evening the boy and I headed down to Smith's because they apparently opened a keg of some rare/new beer and he was dying to try it.

Random uncle I shared a table with while waiting for Sam haha.

China town looking all pretty and bright.

Hahahah I love this pic.

Joni and mummy dropped by too so it was a pretty pleasant night :3

Byebye cheenatown.

abstraction, n.

"Love is one kind of abstraction. And then there are those nights when I sleep alone, when I curl into a pillow that isn't you, when I hear the tiptoe sounds that aren't yours. It's not as if I can conjure you up completely. I must embrace the idea of you instead."

3rd - 6th August Photo Updates

How I spent the first week of August:

Early Monday mornings enroute to work.

Preparing a gift for Juli which incidentally matches my comforter!

Finally got to meet up with her! We went for awesome kekoumian in the neighbourhood.

Adorable kitty I see on the way to work all the time.

Last day of work at the children centre.

This kid was homesick and wouldn't let go of me.

Gonna miss these little babies

Exhausted from teaching the entire day (0700 - 1745).

Some pasar malam shenanigans with my lover.

So excited to curl up in bed with my friends.

Workless and school-less day! Headed out to meet ma lit girls.

\
Adjourned to my favourite sushi place, much to my pleasure.

Smoothie after a filling meal wasn't a great idea but it actually tasted really good!

Famous Amos was having an SG50 promo, we bought loads of them - the girls are separating them into the separate bags in this photo.

<3

Ended the day by hanging out with this cool chica who had just returned from India (and whom I hadn't seen in weeks)!

It was pretty perf.

Of Magic

I've been neglecting my photo updates shamelessly, I have almost a month's worth of backlog and it's killing me. Recently I ran out of good shows to watch so I had taken to reading the Harry Potter series; at first out of boredom and then because I couldn't stop, lol. Juvenile as it seems, I genuinely find the series rather riveting - which is surprising considering my age and the fact that I saw every single movie in the franchise.

In addition, university has resumed and I also went for a short holiday to Thailand so that explains my lack of activity on this space. I'll try to speed up the process ASAP!

Macallan X The Deep

One weekend, the boy invited me to attend the launch of Macallan's new whisky. I'm not alcohol expert but it sounded fancy and fun so I thought why not? It was actually pretty damn cool.

First we went to Lucky Plaza in hopes that Ashifa's Cafe, our favourite Malay Chicken Rice place would be open. Sadly it wasn't, it used to operate on weekends but I suppose they're earning so much now that they don't have to any more (this is the 2nd time we've encountered them closed on a Saturday). So we decided to go to the opposite stall which apparently sells famous YTF, indeed the place was really packed considering it was only 11am. I'm not a huge fan of YTF but I'll concede it's not bad.

What we saw after entering the Macallan Rare Case Launch premises.

Scents of the whiskey.

Available for all attendees to sniff and try out.

Tasting time!

It wasn't all that exciting for me because I'm not a huge fan, but it was an interesting experience.

Out in the sun and onwards to the Art Science Museum!

Loads of jubilee stuff for SG50.

It was pretty damn amazing, checking out all the strange little creatures that exist in a place so far away from us it seems like a different world.

When we resurfaced, we saw loads of people watching the NDP preview.

It was a pretty beautiful day if I do say so myself.

Always great to spend time with this qt <3
