Gay Marriage in America

This is the first and last time that I'm going to comment on such a "political" issue, especially since it has been blowing up on all the social media platforms. I for one, prefer not to spend my time engaging in long debates on Facebook or similar websites, defending what I feel.
  1. It's great, less discrimination on homosexuals. Less discrimination (on anyone) is always a good thing, live and let live. People disagreeing with a certain kind of lifestyle is no reason to for condemnation. A lot of people all over the world live in different ways and if we all just agree to disagree, there would be a lot less arguments.
  2. In the same vein as point number 1, homosexuals finally get recognised legally. This is more important than people think, especially in medical situations. Often times, they are unable to legally make medical decisions for their loved ones who are unable to do so for themselves, sometimes they're unable to visit critically ill loved ones. All because they're not legally "family", think about how terrible that can be.
  3. The "attack on the traditional family unit" argument is stupid and lame. Homosexuals are going to be homosexuals whether or not they are allowed to get legally married - the legalisation of gay marriage aint gonna decrease the number of "traditional family units". Unless someone can prove that gay marriage CAUSES straight people to die, that is.
  4. I don't understand why people are taking it so personally, especially the religious ones. I am a Christian myself, and while I'm not personally against gay marriage, I don't see why those who are "against" it are making such a big fuss. Legislature and religion are governed by completely different organisations in both America and Singapore - the law is not based on religion, and religion is not based on the law. So why are you so miffed and horrified that a legislation is not in line with your personal beliefs? It's akin to Muslims being outraged that pork is allowed to be sold in their country, totally unrelated and nobody is forcing you to eat it so what is your problem???
Okay, that's all. Just had to let that off my chest.
